Waikiki,
Oahu
On
Saturday, July 23th, 2005, Hennessy’s Taverns of California
is proud to host the
Hennessey’s International Paddleboard Championships – an
8-mile race starting in Hawaii Kai
following the South Shore coastline and finishing in Waikiki
Kaimana Beach.
This
is a true
international event with top competitors hailing from across
the U.S, Hawaii, Japan, New
Zealand and Australia.
This
is an open-ocean, nearshore race. Support boats and lifeguard
jetskis will be in the water for your safety.
This
year, we will be offering a new special event: stand-up
paddleboard. This event includes the use of any type of
board and a paddle for use while standing up. This
style is a throwback to the Beachboys who used to surf in
Waikiki using canoe paddles to power themselves into the
waves. In the race tradition of Hennessey’s
Taverns and the Southern California Paddleboard Association,
an awards
banquet and dinner will follow the evening of the race,
complete with live entertainment, awards ceremony, dinner
and raffle. For an additional charge, family and friends
who would like to join the evening’s event are welcome
to do so.
