Saturday,
July 19, 2008. Race starts at 11:00 a.m.
On Saturday, July 19th, 2008,
Hennessy’s Taverns
of California is proud to host the Hennessey’s International
Paddleboard Championships (HIPC) – a 7-mile race starting at
the Turtle Bay Resort following the North Shore coastline and finishing
at Waimea Bay. This will be the 4th HIPC in Hawaii and the third
time for this course. This is a true international event with
top competitors from across the U.S, Hawaii, Japan, Europe, New Zealand
and Australia.
This is an open-ocean, nearshore race. Support boats and lifeguard
jetskis will be in the water for your safety. Additionally, this
is a solo and team event. Top finishers for Team California,
Team Hawaii, Team New Zealand and Team Australia will accumulate points
for an overall Team World Champion. To make the race just a bit
more interesting, there is a prize purse of over $15,000 in cash
prizes for the top finishers.
In the race
tradition of Hennessey’s Taverns and the Southern California
Paddleboard Association, an awards banquet and dinner will follow
the evening of the race, complete with live entertainment, awards
ceremony, dinner and raffle. For an additional charge, family
and friends who would like to join the evening’s event are
welcome to do so. Please
see our website at: http://www.hennesseyspaddleboarding.com/ for
more information.
