2009 Hennessey's US Paddleboard Championships

Redondo Beach, California - Saturday, July 11, 2009


Hennessey’s Taverns of California is proud to host the Hennessey’s Paddleboard Festival. This year we have an exciting new 9-mile race course. The race begins and ends at Avenue I in Redondo Beach, with the Body Glove yacht leading the way! This promises to be a fun-filled event with top competitors hailing from across the United States. This is an open-ocean, near-shore race. Support boats and lifeguard jet skis will be in the water for your safety. Additionally, we have a new course for the stand up paddlers, as well as the Junior Lifeguard races.

In the race tradition of Hennessey’s Taverns and the Southern California Paddleboard Club, a full-blown luau will follow the race behind HT Grill on Catalina and Avenue I in Redondo Beach. Come listen to great music and enjoy the award ceremony, plate lunch, and massive raffle immediately following the race. Family and friends who would like to share in the luau are welcome to do so for an additional charge. Please see our website for more information:

Course
The race begins at Avenue I in Redondo Beach at 7:30 AM.
Water start and beach finish.
Board Classes:
  • Stock (12’and under – no weight limit, no rudders.
  • Unlimited (over 12’ long)
  • 12'6 & Under Stock Stand UP -(No Rudder)
  • 14' Stand Up (No Rudder)
  • Unlimited Stand Up – Any size, anything goes

Prize Money Breakdown:
  • 1st Place - $300
  • 2nd Place - $200
  • 3rd Place - $100
Trophies:
All official finishers will receive a custom trophy.
Schedule:
  • Check-in and final registration begins at 6:00 am at Avenue I in Redondo Beach.
  • Once you’ve checked in you will receive your race jersey.
  • Goodie bags given after the race.
  • Race will begin at 7:30 AM - SHARP
Registration:
Entry Fee: $65
  • Pre-register by mail by July 5, 2009
  • Late entries $75 after July 5th
  • Late entries will be accepted until July 11th at 6:30 am.
  • Entry fee includes lunch, finisher awards, board shorts and a race T-shirt.


Elgibility - Open to men and women at least 18 years of age. (17 & under must have signed parental/guardian form.) Race director reserves the right to refuse participation to entrants for any reason.
Post Race BBQ & Awards:
The awards banquet will feature a luau with live entertainment.
